The news was revealed in a social media post starring Frankie Muniz (Malcolm), Bryan Cranston (Hal) and Jane Kaczmarek (Lois).

The clip shows parents Hal and Lois screaming Malcolm’s name, before Malcolm replies ‘Yes, I hear you. I’m coming”.

The original show ran from 2000 to 2006 on Fox, and followed the middle child of the Wilkerson family, an often dysfunctional family of five boys.

The Disney reboot will air four new episodes, and will be written by the original series creator Linwood Boomer, but not premiere date has been given.

"The original Malcolm in the Middle saw young genius Malcolm trying to navigate life with his quirky, often difficult family,”  the official synopsis explains.

“In these brand-new episodes, Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family's chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
