Aussies Dumbfounded Over The Hefty Price Tag Of A Pint At Sydney Pub

A Sydney pubgoer was left flabbergasted after being charged $22 for a pint of beer.

A video posted to Instagram showed a man tapping his phone on a card reader to pay for his pint, with the machine displaying $22.

The clip was captioned, "This is getting f***ed" and “$22 for a pint!!!!”

The post harboured comments from angry Aussies who are fed up with the exorbitant price of alcohol and suggested the government is to blame for tax hikes.

"(It is) not necessarily the pub's fault; (the) cost of buying and selling is ridiculous with the multiple taxes on alcohol," one commenter wrote.

"Thank the government's taxes on booze. Pure greed," another added.

Another chimed in on the eye-water price, commenting, “This is what motivated me to go sober.”

One commenter called the price tag “Daylight robbery!”

While another posed the question, “A pint or a six-pack? No wonder pubs are closing down.”

Others spoke of where to find a cheaper pint in the country, with one going so far as to suggest Japan.

"Bought a beer in Japan for $1.90 Aud we are getting robbed," they wrote.

“Blame the federal and state governments. Alcohol tax increases every year, and they plan on adding more,” a final commenter chimed in.
