Valerie The Dachshund Reunited With Owners After 540 Days

Valerie, the dachshund, who was missing on Kangaroo Island for 540 days, has finally been reunited with her owners.

The sneaky sausage first ran off when her owners took her on a camping holiday, and was eventually spotted by a local organisation in March.

To everyone's surprise she was reportedly found in a healthy condition and larger than when she left.

Kangala Wildlife Rescue said volunteers spent "over 1000 hours" and travelled "5000km" during their search for the sneaky sausage, and they were thrilled to finally get to deliver the good news to owners, Josh Fishlock and Georgia Gardner.

"They were just so excited, there were tears," one rescuer said.

Valerie spent a week recovering on Kangaroo Island before she was reunited with her elated owners.
