Brooklyn Dad Takes the Crown At NYC Pedro Pascal Lookalike Contest

It was a battle of the moustaches in Manhattan on Sunday, as more than two dozen Pedro Pascal hopefuls descended on the Lower East Side, all competing for the ultimate title.

The scene? Son Del North, a local Mexican joint turned casting couch for The Last of Us star’s unofficial twins. The prize? Eternal bragging rights, $50, and a year’s worth of burritos.

Emerging victorious from the chaos was George Gountas, a Brooklyn dad who bore such a resemblance to Pascal that the crowd erupted into spontaneous chants of “Pedro! Pedro!” before the final vote even began.

Gountas told The Independent that only entered after co-workers at The Daily Show convinced him he was Pascal’s long-lost twin.

The competition started with 26 aspiring Pedros strutting their stuff on a makeshift podium out front, flaunting their best smulders. After a grueling round of judging by a panel of three,  the pool was narrowed down to ten, then three.

But once Gountas, contestant number five, took the stage, it was game over.

Restaurant co-owner Wim Shih said the whole event was meant to inject a little joy into the world. “There’s just so much sadness in the world right now, and we wanted to be a bit of sunshine today amidst all that,” Shih said.

Mission accomplished.
