The Chinese social media app became the top downloaded app in the US after it was dubbed a TikTok alternative.
The app known in China as Xiaohongshu is used to share lifestyle recommendations.
The migration Xiaohongshu, which translates to ‘Little Red Book’, is seemingly in protest of the TikTok ban.
The US Supreme Court has ruled that TikTok must be divested from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, by January 19 or face the ban.
The move from the US Supreme Court comes over national security concerns.
The #tiktokrefugee hashtag has quickly racked up over 160,000 posts, mostly consisting of videos made by American users introducing themselves and asking for tips on navigating the app.
