Nick Silverthorn purchased a supermarket brand razor from UK supermarket Sainsbury’s that he used on Boxing Day 2023.
He alleged that the razor he used was faulty and a detached blade cut his face.
“This was no ordinary shaving cut. It sliced my skin,” Silverthorn told SWNS.
“My cuts bled for over twenty minutes. I took action to protect others as they may not be as lucky as me.
“This was a serious fault. It was a matter of principle to take the big boys on, and I did and won.”
He explained that he was on “autopilot” when he started shaving one side of his face and then another stroke on the other side.
”I noticed after a few seconds that I had started bleeding badly on my left cheek and then on my right-hand side as well, and before I knew it, it was streaming down my face.”
“It just kept coming. Due to the wounds being on my face, it took me nearly half an hour dabbing with tissues before the blood finally stopped pumping out of the cuts.”
That’s when he noticed that there was a blade hanging out of the razor, adding that in his thirty years of shaving, he had never been cut like this.
Silverthorn said that the injury left him with scars on his face and took weeks to properly heal.
Silverthorn then contacted Express Solicitors, who then contacted Sainsbury’s, who referred them to the manufacturer of the razor.
Wilkinson Sword then sent the razor, which Silverthorn thankfully kept, for testing and, a month later, settled his claim with no admission of liability.
