Pizza Hut China Launches Deep-Fried Frog Pizza

Pizza Hut China has caused a stir with its latest offering - a pizza topped with a whole, deep-fried frog.

The chain partnered with Chinese tech giant Tencent to create the 'Goblin Pizza' in honour of the Dungeon and Fighter: Origins mobile game.

David Henkes, a global food industry consultant, shared a photo of the pizza on X, sharing the importance of catering to the preferences of different cultures.

"In proof that other countries/cultures prefer different types of proteins, Pizza Hut is offering a pizza topped with a frog for a limited time offer in China - and frog is trending," Henkes wrote.

The pizza, which is meant to look like a goblin character from the game, comes with a red sauce base and is topped with a whole bullfrog, as well as coriander to resemble a green face and two halves of hard-boiled eggs and black olives to resemble eyes.

One diner shared a photo of their frog pizza to Reddit, where many were put off by the unique creation.

"The frog isn't even the worst part. The toppings are miserable and the pizza looks dry after, nice bit of limp leaves there for colour," wrote one critic.

Despite the interesting presentation, a few said they'd be up for a taste test.

"Looks good actually," wrote one person, while another said the fried frog "looks delicious".

Others were confused by the choice to use so much of the frog as a topping, with one person writing, "Frog legs are great, but I don't know why they'd include the abdomen. Also, are you supposed to eat the bones? Doesn't really seem like a good pizza topping."
