Live Action ‘Rugrats’ Movie Is In The Works

The beloved Nickelodeon animation ‘Rugrats’ is getting new life from Paramount Pictures, with a live-action/CGI film adaption coming to the big screen.

Created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain, the Nickelodeon series premiered in 1991 and became one of the network’s most-loved series.

Rugrats followed the adventures of toddler besties, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil, and ran for nine seasons before its finale in 2004.

Jason Moore, whose credits include 'Pitch Perfect’ and the Tina Fey-Amy Poeheler comedy ‘Sisters’ is set to direct the film. Karen Rosenfelt is producing, along with “Rugrats” co-creators Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó.

Saturday Night Live writing partners Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell have reportedly penned the script for the movie.

There have been several Rugrats films, including 1998’s ‘The Rugrats Movie’, 2000’s ‘Rugrats in Paris’ and 2003’s ‘Rugrats Go Wild’; this film differs as while Tommy Pickles and his pals will be animated in the movie, it is set in the real world.

There’s no official word on a release date for the live-action Rugrats film just yet.
