John Farnham ‘Kicking Goals’ Post Surgery

John Farnham’s son James has revealed that the legendary Aussie singer has been “kicking goals” following his cancer battle and is now preparing to become a grandfather.

In August 2022, the 75-year-old singer had a 12-hour surgery to remove a tumour from his mouth and to reconstruct his jaw.

The Two Strong Hearts singer received the “all clear” regarding the cancer in 2023.

His son James appeared on Sunrise, telling Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington that he is “doing really well, walking around, kicking goals, annoying mum.”

James also revealed that he and his partner, Tessa Effendi, are expecting a baby boy.

“We’re all really excited. Another little Farnham is on the way,” James said.

“I can’t wait to take him up to the farm and get Dad to teach him everything he taught me.”

The wonderful baby news comes after John revealed that his life-saving surgery has left him unable to sing.

“My facial disfigurement from the surgery means I can’t open my mouth wide enough for a strip of spaghetti, let alone to sing,” Farnham revealed in an excerpt from his memoir published by the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I can’t get the movement to make the sounds I want to make, that’s where the vibrations and my voice come from. It’s a very disconcerting thing. And trying hurts.”
