Pregnant Aussie women have been forced to travel hundreds of kilometres through the 'maternity desert', sometimes giving birth in emergency wards and even on the roadside after 150 rural maternity units closed over the past 20 years. Now, Project Bush Babies is pushing for urgent change so pregnant women can get the healthcare they desperately need.
