After four years in jail and three years out, Billy McFarland announced FYRE Festival 2.
"I'm sure many people think I'm crazy for doing this again, but I feel I'd be crazy not to do it again. After years of reflection and now thoughtful planning, the new team and I have amazing plans for Fyre 2."
It's been announced that the festival will run from the 30th of May until the 2nd of June 2025 on Isla Mujeres, off the coast of Cancun, Mexico.
Tickets went on sale at the time of the announcement, with prices ranging from $1,400 to $1.1 Million USD.
Four ticket categories are named Ignite, Fuego, Phoenix and Prometheus, each increasing in price and promises.
The Ignite pass is $1,400 and is advertised as 'the essentials' only.
It includes 4-day access to the festival grounds and the water stage, as well as transportation from preferred accommodation and pick-up spots.
The ticket does not include any travel to Mexico or any accommodation.
Ticket holders would need to purchase the $25,000 Phoenix ticket for accommodation to be included in their pass.
While the website states that festival goers holding the 1.1 million dollar 'Prometheus' pass will have access to either a yacht or villa for accommodation, many other details of what this purchase includes are unclear.
Those who opt to attend this festival as "Gods of FYRE" can purchase the 1.1 million dollar pass for up to eight people.
McFarland says, "The adventure seekers who trust the vision and take the leap will help make history."
Whilst you might feel inclined to secure your $5,000 VIP ticket and front-row access to the FYRE 2 water stage, it's still unclear who you would be sitting front-row for, with the setlist yet to be announced.
Despite all these claims made by the festival, no artists are currently rumoured to be performing.
Understandably, the internet has not been convinced that FYRE Festival 2 will not be the same scam as last time.
One commenter has said, "When you have to reiterate that "Fyre 2 is REAL", things aren't looking good." whilst another has said ", Still waiting on my "immediate refund" from Fyre 1".
Others have taken the announcement as an opportunity for entertainment, saying, "If someone makes this mistake again, that's on them, but I'd watch the documentary".
So, FYRE Festival says it's making a comeback... will the 8 years since its last downfall be enough for it to be a success?
