Everything We Know About ‘The Office’ Spinoff: ‘The Paper’

Peacock has just shared its first look at a new mockumentary set in the world of The Office US, titled ‘The Paper’.

The first look image for ‘The Paper’ was unveiled along with a short trailer at the NBCUniversal upfront presentation.

The series will follow a documentary crew, once obsessed with Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, now on the hunt for a new story.

Their find? A floundering Midwestern newspaper, the Toledo Truth-Teller, and its determined publisher are trying to keep it alive.

The crew discovers that Oscar Martinez (played by Oscar Nuñez) has become the paper’s accountant - and he’s characteristically unenthused to see the cameras back.

The Office creators Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are back for The Paper, and they’re joined by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.

Cast members include Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Alex Edelman.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about ‘The Paper’, Greg Daniels explained, "It's about this struggling Midwestern newspaper that's much reduced from its glory days. A lot of the story lines are about how this guy, Domhnall Gleeson's character, is trying to restore this paper, and he just doesn't have the budget for hiring reporters, and he has to use all the staff that work there on a volunteer basis to be reporters. They're completely untrained and don't know what they're doing."

The upcoming spin-off of The Office is set for a September premiere.
