From May 19, AusPost employees will need to take a photo of the delivery attempt and upload it to the MyPost app.
“To deliver parcels to you, our drivers need reasonable, safe access to your property,” AusPost said in a statement on its website.
“We infer your permission to access and deliver, or attempt to deliver, and to take photos.”
“We are sharing these photos to keep you informed and give you assurance when we attempt a delivery but can’t leave the parcel at the address,” says Australia Post’s email.
“These photos will only be available in the AusPost app when we can match the parcel to your MyPost account via your email address or mobile phone number.”
AusPost employees are still required to knock three times and prove that they arrived at the address via GPS tracking.
An AusPost spokesperson told Newswire, “This initiative will enhance the transparency of when a delivery is attempted and provide customers with assurance when we can’t leave the parcel at the address.”
The postal service will gradually roll out over the next two weeks.
