A non-profit helped organise a techno fest for care home residents to give them a chance to experience new things.
“These people had full lives before, but now living in a care home, they’ve lost their activities and the habit of going out,” care home staff member Sonia Flohimont told DW News.
“Many residents don’t go out at all.”
With the help of the non-profit, a local dance music festival, Groove Day, invited the residents for a day out.
Eighty-eight-year-old Ria Pencelet Andre was one of those who attended the rave, saying she used to go out in her younger years.
“I met my husband at a ball, but in that era, you had to wear long dresses,” she said.
At the festival, Ria and her fellow residents hit the dancefloor with the younger revellers.
“I’m going to write to the care home and tell them this is amazing and that everyone is so friendly.”
