Cancer Patient Holds Funeral For Her Amputated Limb

Eldiara, who has stage 3 cancer, underwent a life-saving surgery to remove her arm after a tumour was found, and she decided to hold a funeral for her dearly departed limb.

Posting to TikTok, Eldiara shared a video of herself and her loved ones dressed in chic funeral attire for an open casket viewing style viewing of the 22-year-old’s amputated arm.

The post, which has racked up a whopping 30.5 million views and 4.4 million likes, was captioned: ‘Utilized my free will and had a memorial for my arm that I lost to cancer.’

While Eldiara approached the event with an admirable sense of positivity and humour, she said in a heartfelt Instagram post that it became much more than that.

'What started as a joke - holding a service for my amputated arm - ended up being a beautifully cathartic experience,' she wrote in the post.

'I just stared at the shrivelled-up skin for a while, trying to remember the past 22 years I was able to spend with this thing,' she continued.

'I've held many hands, felt the skin of loved ones, picked up spiders to take outside, saved worms off of the sidewalk, wiped away tears, pet dogs and picked many dandelions,'

'Cancer has taken a lot from me and still continues to, and it's uniquely difficult to say goodbye to a limb like this, but this experience has helped me process the finality of this situation.'

Eldiara also thanked the mortuary for adhering to her 'unconventional request', explaining that they went above and beyond.

'They painted her nails and livened up her skin, gave her a pillow to rest on and a blanket to make her comfortable,' she shared.

While the internet is often a scary place, commenters rallied around Eldiara and praised her on how she handled such a huge, life-changing moment.

‘This is actually brilliant for your mental health and to get closure’, one user wrote.

‘This is actually art,’ another added.

One commenter noted that ‘this is Moira Rose behaviour, and it is iconic’.

While another had their own take: ‘This is so Addams family, and I love it so damn much’.

While others just couldn’t give up the opportunity to land a pun. ‘Gotta hand it to you, this was a very unique way to handle this,’ one wrote.

‘This is single-handedly the coolest thing,’ another chimed in.
