American Brand Launches Limited-Edition Soup-Flavoured Hard Candy

American brand Progresso is celebrating National Soup Month by launching limited-edition Soup Drops, a hard candy that tastes like soup.

The company, best known for its canned soups and beans, this week launched the savoury candies, which they’re advertising as “soup you can suck on”.

So, what does a soup-flavoured hard candy taste like?

Progresso describes the Soup Drops as a chicken noodle soup-flavored hard candy that delivers the savory taste of broth, veggies, soft egg noodles, and a hint of parsley — all in a candy you can suck on.

Soup Drops will be available to purchase through till the end of January, with the company adding that the savoury lozenges are available right in time for “the height of cold and flu season,”

“When you’re sick, nothing is truly more reassuring than chicken noodle soup,” said MC Comings, a vice president at General Mills, in a statement.

“So, we thought, why stop at the soup bowl?”

Well, we can think of a few reasons.

Packaged in a can resembling Progresso’s soup cans, each contains 20 individually wrapped Soup Drops and retail for USD $2.49.

While some were curious about the chicken-soup flavoured candy, there was a recurring theme among the comments on Progresso’s social media post.

“We didn’t ask for this,” many wrote, speaking for the masses.
