Woolworths Corrects Spelling Of Chicken Kiev To ‘Kyiv’

Woolworths has stated the change is a small but “meaningful” move in support of Ukrainians.

The popular Woolworths deli item, chicken kiev, has been renamed to the accurate spelling of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Woolworths says the decision to change the spelling was made after consultation with Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations

“In our discussion we heard this was a small, but meaningful change we could make to stand in solidarity with Ukrainians living in Australia,” a Woolworths spokesperson told media.

“Kyiv is the globally recognised name of the capital, so it’s only appropriate we reflect that in the labelling of the product.”

The corrected name will be seen in stores from March 10 onwards.
