Survey Says We Turn Into Our Parents at 43—Whether We Like It Or Not

Turning 43? Congrats, You're now your parents.

Paul Stokes from M&S Credit Card in the UK surveyed 2,000 Brits to explore financial literacy... and the subtle (and not-so-subtle) signs you’re becoming your parents.

According to one-third of respondents, telltale signs include grumbling about the weather more than you used to or nodding off in front of the TV.

The survey found that the average age we start to morph into our parents is 43.

Women apparently get there a bit earlier, around 42, while men hold off until 45.

Other painfully relatable signs of the transformation include:

Dressing purely for comfort (31%)

Heading to bed by 10 pm (27%)

Feeling guilty for sleeping in on the weekend (15%)

Rounding out the list: taking up gardening, having a favourite chair, proudly using loyalty cards, and investing in a thick winter duvet.

At this point, it’s starting to feel less like a survey and more like a personal attack.
