Statement from Matt Anderson Director, Australian War Memorial:
All sponsorship agreements are considered carefully by the Executive and Council to ensure they align with the Memorial’s governing Act, mission and purpose.
The Australian War Memorial values the support of corporate partners. The additional funding received through corporate sponsorship and donations has assisted the Memorial to develop exhibitions and programs that could not otherwise have been delivered without third party funding support.
The Memorial creates and delivers these projects independently and maintains full editorial control over content.
The podcast series Up Close – Conversations with modern veterans has allowed veterans to speak about consequences of their operational service and the personal impacts of deployments. Without Lockheed Martin Australia’s support, the series could not have been created.
Statement from Warren McDonald AO, CSC, Chief Executive, Lockheed Martin Australia
“As a former serving member of the Australian Defence Force, I feel the industry responsible for equipping and protecting our service men and women has a role to play in telling the story of our nation’s military history.
The Australian War Memorial is an institution dedicated to broadening our nation’s understanding of the true cost of war, through art, ceremonies and displays.
Most recently, our support made it possible for the Australian War Memorial to raise awareness of the impacts of conflict on mental health.
As an Australian company we strive to be a valued partner to our local communities and we demonstrate this by actively supporting organisations that both honour and assist members of our armed forces, past and present, and their families and friends to achieve greater understanding of their sacrifice.
It is on all of us to assist organisations such as the Australian War Memorial in this important endeavour”.
