South Australia Looks To Bring In Cigarette Age Ban

South Australia has proposed introducing a UK-style age ban on buying cigarettes, meaning those born on or after January 1, 2009, will never be able to buy cigarettes.

It's set to become the first jurisdiction in the world to ban an entire generation from buying cigarettes.

Legislation passed the Upper House on Wednesday that will ban anyone born from January 1 2007, from being able to legally buy tobacco and e-cigarette products.

It still needs to pass the Lower House to become law.

New Zealand and the U.K. have previously attempted the ban.
