Sabrina Carpenter Says She “F****d Up” Met Gala Look After Fan Suggests Alternate Option

If there is one thing you can be sure of, it’s that come Met Gala day, everyone’s a fashion critic, and one X user had Sabrina Carpenter rethinking her whole look.

The Espresso singer attended fashion’s night of nights in a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble, under the stylistic direction of Pharrel Williams. Carpenter was seen in a sculpted burgundy jacket, layered over a bodysuit and paired with stilettos. However, it was her bottoms, or lack thereof, that became a focal point. While speaking with Vogue on the Met Gala red carpet, Carpenter revealed that Pharrell Williams had said, “You’re short, no no pants for you.” But online, amateur fashion critics weren’t sold on Pharrell’s stylistic decision, with many arguing that the no-pants look didn’t do much for the 25-year-old. One X user, @amberkhtk, went as far as posting a done up photo of how she would’ve dressed Carpenter. “I would never suggest this color of the “ringmaster” costume to begin with, but it’s a perfect example of how dressing against your body type can go horribly wrong,” the X user wrote. “In her interview, she said the designer suggested she go pantless because she’s already petite,” she continued. Alongside the caption, a photo of the singer in a reimagined custom suit, sans sleeves, a pin-striped pant, and a feather top hat, to finish off the look. While A-listers typically choose to tune out the fashion critics on Met Gala night, Carpenter leaned into it. “Damn, I f****d up…” she wrote, reposting the X user’s design to her personal X.
