Sabrina Carpenter Drops New Album News, And A Polarising Cover That’s Got Fans Divided

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has built her brand on empowering anthems and unapologetic sexuality, but the announcement of her upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend, has fans divided.

Fresh off the release of her latest single Manchild, the 26-year-old took to Instagram to reveal that her highly anticipated seventh album will arrive on August 29.

“My new album, Man’s Best Friend 🐾 is out on August 29, 2025,” she wrote. “i can’t wait for it to be yours x”

But while fans were thrilled at the promise of new music, the album’s provocative cover has stirred backlash.

The artwork features Carpenter on all fours, being pulled by her hair, juxtaposed with a close-up of a dog collar engraved with the album’s title. The imagery was playful for some, but problematic for others.

Critics accused the cover of being tone-deaf and “anti-feminist,” with some calling it “degrading”.

“This imagery is despicable and sending women back decades,” one commenter wrote.

Another added, “Sabrina, women are losing their rights…”

A third user bluntly asked, “Girl, is this a humiliation ritual?”

Others questioned how the image aligned with the confident, empowered persona Carpenter has cultivated, with one saying, “Can we get a new cover that doesn’t suck? It feels so against the strong, busy-woman character you’ve built up.”

Still, many fans jumped to her defense, arguing that the satirical intent behind the visuals had been misunderstood.

“You know she’s a POP QUEEN when people are quaking in their boots cause they don’t understand basic satire,” one fan commented.

Another wrote, “It’s camp. It’s commentary. It’s brilliant. Let the girl cook.”

As the conversation continues to heat up online, one thing’s for sure: Man’s Best Friend is already making a statement, whether fans love it or hate it.
