Origin Player Jessika Elliston Wins Best on Ground, Then Drops the Medal

Queensland's Jessika Elliston won best on ground in the final game of the Women's State of Origin, however, her post-match celebrations were briefly overshadowed by an awkward moment during a live interview.

The Maroons restored some pride by edging out New South Wales 18-14 in Newcastle, staging a second-half comeback to deny the Blues a historic clean sweep in the inaugural three-match series.

Forward Jessika Elliston racked up 143 metres to help steer her team to victory and was deservedly named Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Blues lock Olivia Kernick was recognised for her consistent excellence across the series, taking home the Player of the Series award.
