The news comes just days after the Victorian government secured three NFL games for Melbourne from 2026.
The Herald Sun has confirmed that a contract is set to be drawn up, stating that at least one NBA team will be brought out to Melbourne in October to face off against the Aussie NBL teams.
It's understood the NBL might put together a select team to take part in the series. Otherwise, it would likely be Melbourne United or the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
It is unclear what NBA team will make the trek Down Under just yet, but the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets are reportedly all on the shortlist.
The NBA Exhibition series is set to give Victoria a huge tourism boost, with fans travelling from interstate and overseas.
