Gen Z Giving Up Morning Sex To Wake Up ‘Hot’

Forget about steamy nights and midnight snogs. A new Gen Z trend is giving them up, all in the name of beauty!

The 'morning shed' beauty trend has people swapping intimacy for an obsessive nighttime skincare routine filled with face creams, chin straps, and even mouth guards. Basically, go to bed looking like a science experiment and peel off the layers in the morning for that coveted glow. Who needs snuggles when you can wake up “hot”?

But not everyone is sold on this TikTok phenomenon.

Dermal clinician James Vivian told news.com.au that “more isn’t always better when it comes to skincare''. His mantra? “Keep it simple, stupid” by sticking to proven ingredients like Vitamin A and SPF instead of falling for every viral product out there.

Katy Bacon, a dermal therapist, echoes this sentiment, telling The Beauty Diary, “If I go to bed uglier, I’ll wake up hotter” is a dangerous mindset.

She cautions that mouth tape and pimple patches can do more harm than good by damaging skin.

Melbourne scientist Hannah English finds the trend's messaging harmful. ''Optimising all of your time, even resting time, in the pursuit of beauty”.

“That’s quite damaging for young women,” she told The Beauty Diary.

Her advice? Focus on effective products that actually work, and don’t sacrifice sleep or your relationship for a temporary glow-up.
