Ford Recalls Ranger and Everest Models Over Potential V6 Engine Fault

Ford has issued a recall for its popular Ranger utes and Everest SUVs, citing a potential engine fault in vehicles fitted with its 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 that could cause the engine to suddenly stall while driving.

The recall affects nearly 13,500 vehicles in Australia and 647 in New Zealand, all powered by the brand’s “Lion” V6 engine.

According to Ford’s official recall notice, “the engine could stall, leading to a sudden loss of motive power while driving,” and warns that such a failure “increases the risk of an accident, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

A Ford spokesperson said dealers have been instructed to visually inspect the left-hand camshaft sprocket to determine its build date and, if necessary, replace the sprocket and related components.

The repair will be carried out free of charge, and Ford will contact all affected owners directly.
