Flying Duck In Switzerland Clocked Going Almost Double The Speed Limit On Radar

Speed cameras have revealed that an alleged repeat speed offender snapped going almost double the speed limit in central Switzerland is.. well, a duck.

Authorities say the duck was caught going 52km/h in a 30km/h zone, and may be a repeat offender.

Police in the town of Köniz, near Bern, were amused when they discovered that their speeding culprit was a mallard, and took to their social media page to share a snap of the criminal with their followers.

They acknowledged that “April Fool's or Fake News?” was a valid assumption, but were quick to rule it out, confirming in their caption: “it is impossible that the image or the radar system has been manipulated.”

They explain that this is because the computers are calibrated and tested each year by Switzerland’s federal institute of metrology, and the photos taken are sealed.

They also touched on their suspicions that the duck was a repeat speed offender.

“There was actually a duck in the radar trap again. To the day exactly seven years later at the exact same place at exactly the same speed. A duck as a notorious racer and repeat offender,” they wrote.

The Facebook post concluded: "We hope you enjoy pondering curious coincidences, criminal activities of animals and the maximum flight speed of ducks."

That we will, that we will indeed.
