Local news outlet Spectrum Bay News 9 shared an image of Tampa resident Mohammed Nijem's strapped down home to X, where it has been viewed over 1.9 million times.
People argued over the efficacy of the unique hurricane prep, with some people declaring the straps a genius move and others claiming they would cause more damage than they would prevent if the wind ripped them from the ground.

Some pointed out that the straps should have been twisted to avoid vibrations, while others joked that they hoped Nijem had slapped the roof and said it "wasn't going anywhere".
I’m hoping for the best for the people of Florida, but if this guy didn’t slap the house and say “Alright, this ain’t going anywhere,” then it definitely will not work. https://t.co/NzKcEdA1Yz

Others hoped to see an updated picture after the storm passed to evaluate whether the straps had done the job.
"I am intrigued. I am not judging. I'm genuinely fascinated," wrote one person, while another said "I don't know if this is smart or dumb, but hopefully they show an after video!"
I’m interested to see if this works or if it turns into a whirling helicopter of death and destruction. 🤔 https://t.co/4qUVoHwg1o
