Eurovision Introduces First Ever Mascot, Lumo, And They Are Quite Something..

Meet Lumo, the very first mascot for the Eurovision Song Contest. Whilst you might have initially gasped, please try to join us in welcoming the mascot as they represent “unity” and the “power of music.”

Design students from all over Switzerland submitted 36 designs for the ESC’s very first mascot.

Designed by Lynn Brunner from the Basel Academy of Art and Design, Lumo was the lucky candidate selected for the job.

Lumo is designed to represent “unity and transparency, bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together through the power of music.”

“Lumo embodies the unstoppable power of music. Its untamed curly hair burns like flames, dancing wildly to the rhythms and reflecting the electrifying euphoria of Eurovision.”

“With its bright colours, it depicts the heat of emotions – from fervent enthusiasm to the warm comfort of shared experiences.”

“Its big bright eyes, its mouth ready to sing and its expressive hands make Lumo a joyful ambassador of musical diversity and camaraderie.”

Beyond all of the apparent symbolism and profound explanations, Lumo truly feels indescribable.

If you think that witnessing Lumo on your small screen was not enough to handle already, the mascot while be physically parading around Basel in the lead up and throughout the ESC in May.

Whilst you may have never seen anything quite like Lumo before, they may very well be the start of a new Eurovision tradition...
