Dexter: Resurrection Is Coming, With Erin Stonestreet Cast As Serial Killer

Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet is stepping into a much darker role in the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection, the latest sequel to the acclaimed crime drama.

Michael C. Hall returns as the enigmatic Dexter Morgan, the beloved serial killer with a code. The new series follows the events of Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022) and the 2024 prequel Dexter: Original Sin, continuing the story just weeks after Dexter survives a near-fatal encounter with his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott). ‘Dexter: Resurrection’s’ star-studded cast will include Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris and David Dastmalchian. But one of the most surprising additions is Stonestreet, who will play Al, a suspected serial killer from Kansas City. Set to appear in four episodes, the role marks a dramatic shift from his comedic roots. Original series showrunner Clyde Phillips returns to helm the series, with executive producers Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Marcos Siega also joins as producing director.
