The real-life Ramsay Street is named Pin Oak Court, with Weeden Drive also used, in Vermont South, Melbourne.
Its residents may soon have a heritage overlay to protect the places where Neighbours has been filmed for more than three decades.
Councillors from Whitehorse passed a motion on Monday night with eight-votes-to-three to commission a report on heritage protection of eight iconic properties of 'Ramsay Street'.
The decision comes after British broadcaster Channel 5, declared they would cease broadcasting the show when the contract ends in June.
However, many residents were shocked and upset by the news as it would influence their freedoms to change their own homes as they see fit.
