Thirsty? NSW’s Richmond Valley Takes Title For Tastiest Tap Water

A drop above the others, NSW Richmond’s Valley has won the 2021 ‘Best Tasting Tap Water’ competition - and yes that is a real, annual thing.

Hosted by the WIOA - Water Industry Operators Association of Australia. The WIOA sample water from the authority state winners to determine the ultimate winner.

So what’s the criteria for being the tastiest tap water? WIOA’s chief operations officer, Craig Mathisen, explained that each sample of water is judged on particular criteria of “Clarity, smell, taste and ‘feeling in the mouth’”

Richmond Valley’s council plant representative, David Timms, said they were absolutely “rapt” to have won the NSW competition “Let alone win the Australian one”

But it doesn't end there, winners from all over the world compete in the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition, held in West Virginia, United States, where Richmond Valley will represent Australia.
