Wimbledon, the oldest tennis tournament in the world, has sadly been cancelled this year. It marks the first time since World War One. However, that hasn’t stopped many tennis fans from still paying tribute to the exciting event.
Wimbledon’s social media accounts are encouraging fans to recreate the tournament in their own home using the hashtag ‘WimbledonRecreated.’ Here are some of the inventive ideas going around the internet today…
One fan, @Latsograus, clearly doesn’t have much garden space. While @Elissabetta_Ferrgario makes it feel like every shot should be considered out of bounds.
Some fans even made Wimbledon-themed cakes to get into the spirit, because we all know nothing makes you feel better than watching other people burn calories while you eat cake.
It’s also the 39-year anniversary since John McEnroe’s epic meltdown on the court. So in commemoration, some young fans decided to make this loving tribute.
Even Serena Williams got in on the action!
Despite all the fun that tennis fans are having at home, spare a thought for these lonely tennis grounds.
The only sports grounds that would love a year off is Flemington Race course. What a relief to not have thousands of people throw up into you.
If you’d like to show your support for the Wimbledon campaign, upload a photo to social media with the hashtag #WimbledonRecreated. You better hurry, because you’ve only got till the end of the tournament on July 11th to transform your backyard into a tennis court! Otherwise it’s game over!
