Socceroo's Coach Graham Arnold Reveals What He's Learnt From Ted Lasso

If there is one thing you take away from Ted Lasso, it’s ‘Believe’. But there is so much more for the Socceroo’s coach.

Football is life! And so is streaming Ted Lasso’s 2 full seasons when isolating with COVID.

For Socceroo’s coach Graham Arnold, he has taken some inspiration and learnings away from Jason Sudeikis’ character Ted Lasso, acknowledging that you need to give players a reason these days and manipulate things to seem like you know what you are talking about. (We do think Graham was being a little sarcastic).

So, to help Coach Arnold ‘Believe’ as Australia heads into their all-important World Cup qualifying match, here are some brilliant Ted Lasso quotes to help him motivate the boys!

What a better place to start than the locker room: "I do love a locker room. It smells like potential."

When reflecting on Australia’s five World Cup appearances, this one will be important: "You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It's a goldfish. You know why? It's got a 10-second memory."

Before the team heads out to the grass, it's important to remember: "Your body is like day-old rice. If it ain't warmed up properly, something real bad could happen."

And at the end of the day, it’s not about winning or losing, or ties, because "If God would have wanted games to end in a tie, she wouldn't have invented numbers."

It’s about being the best you can be: "For me, success is not about the wins and losses. It's about helping these young fellas be the best versions of themselves on and off the field." Watch our full interview with Coach Arnold below.
