Russian President Vladimir Putin Says 'Special Military Operation' Will Be Undertaken In Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said, in a TV address to his nation, that a 'special military operation' will be undertaken in Ukraine's Donbas region, according to Reuters.

The announcement was made as a United Nations council meeting got underway.

According to Reuters, Putin also said that clashes between Ukrainian and Russian forces are 'inevitable' and 'only a question of time'.

He went on to say that further NATO expansions and its use of Ukraine's territory are unacceptable.

Russia's military operation is said to be aimed at 'protecting people'.
