In the third quarter of the the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves game at the Target Centre (which is a stadium, not a big Target, she was not tackled between the Manchester and Outdoors section), a protester suddenly rushed forward to do the thing protesters do best (protest).
But literally one step forward and BAM! Security were on it, tackling her and halting play for a few moments before she was dragged away. The protester has since been identified as Sasha Zemmel, a member of animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere. In a statement released from the group, Sasha wore a makeshift referee jersey with the number 5.3 displayed on the back “in honour of the 5.3 million chickens killed” after a bird flu outbreak at Rembdrant Enterprises - an egg factory farm owned by Glen Taylor, a billionaire business magnate, politician and owner of the Timberwolves.
And you know what? It worked. I didn’t know about that before this happened. Make of that what you will.
This is the third time a protester has been at a Timberwolves game, with one gluing themselves to the court and second chaining herself to the hoop.
On review of the footage you can see security already had a hunch something was up as they were already keeping a watchful eye.

Now that’s what those in the security world call a ’Swish’.
