NSW Could Relax Sunday Ban On Construction Work

NSW is considering temporarily removing the ban on tradies working on Sunday to help make up for construction time lost due to the persistent wet weather.

The ban on Sunday construction was relaxed after last year’s Covid-19 lockdown to help ease the pressure caused by staff shortages, but the temporary order expired in March.

Now, Premier Dominic Perrottet said the state government is considering it again to deal with the backlog caused by construction sites shut down for months due to rain in a “balanced and appropriate way”.

"It's not it's not necessarily about increasing hours during the week," Mr Perrottet said on Thursday.

"It's providing greater opportunity for people to go to work to provide for their families.

"I know that it's a balancing act but we'll get it right like we have in the past.

"We obviously want to bring the community with us on that but I want people in work, I want people in jobs."
