New South Wales To End Daily Press Conferences As State Prepares For Peak Of Cases

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced the daily 11 AM COVID-19 press conferences will end from Monday.

It comes as the state recorded 1,542 new infections and nine further deaths.

Instead of the briefing, a daily video will be published outlining the latest information.

Berejiklian has said that she and her Health Minister will continue to address the state on an intermittent basis.

"I will turn up when I need to but to expect the leader of the government indefinitely to do this every day means that I am not doing my job properly," she said.

She admits that she did not know how the news would be received.

Earlier this week, the premier indicated Sydney's COVID cases would peak next week and that "September and October will be really difficult"
