Meghan Markle’s Animated Netflix Series, Pearl, Cancelled Amid Cutbacks

It appears no one is immune to Netflix’s cutbacks, as even the Duchess of Sussex’s animated project, ‘Pearl’, has been cancelled by the streaming giant.

Netflix has seen a collapse in its subscribers, which has left the company forced to cancel a variety of planned productions, including the Duchess’.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in September last year, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stating their focus will be on ‘content that informs but also gives hope’.

However, almost a year later, none of the planned series has made it to production yet.

The first confirmed cancelled series in the works is Meghan’s animated series, Pearl.

The series was set to follow the story of a 12-year-old girl exploring famous women in history.

Along with Pearl, Netflix scrapped two other kids' shows in production, Dino Daycare and Boons and Curses.
