The Coronavirus continues to spread around the world, America has fallen and now we have a life-sized cake of Harry and Meghan (the artists formerly known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex).
Remember that brief phase on Twitter a few months ago when everything was a cake? Well, this year one Tik Tok account is bringing it back in an impressive and weird way. Marie Antoinette once infamously said: “Let them eat cake” but one mega royal fan has apparently uttered the immortal words: “Let them be made of cake.”
In a clip shared on Tik Tok (which might well be the only social media site left that will still have Trump), a very talented cake-maker (is that a word?) apparently takes a call from a huge royal fan asking for the extravagant cake ahead of the first anniversary of Harry and Meghan abdicating from their royal duties.
It is unclear who exactly ordered the cake, but presumably it was the Queen wanting to celebrate no longer having to invite Meghan over for tea.
@lara_cakesandtwinsThis was really early on so I used some Rice Crispies... I’ve got better since then. Promise I won’t do it again...♬ original sound - Lara Mason
In the video, the cake-ist (is that the word?) Lara from @lara_cakesandtwins is seen building some sort of skeletal scaffolding of shelves that house the cakes as Harry and Meghan smile away. It’s truly terrifying and is not suitable for children.
Yes, the idea sounds half-baked (comedy!) But the finished product is actually pretty impressive. The cake-filled Harry and Meghan look kind of like two off-brand Madam Tussaud’s wax figures that you bought from the middle aisle at Aldi. But, presumably, they taste way better than any of the wax figures at Madam Tussaud’s. Presumably.
The Internet is divided (can you believe it?) about what to make of the cakes. Are they extremely impressive? Yes. Are they creepy? Absolutely.
