Ever Wanted To Live Like Winnie The Pooh?

A “Bearbnb” inspired by the Pooh himself has opened in the UK.

“Got to get up, got to get going, I’m going to see a friend of mine, he’s round and he’s fuzzy, I love him because he’s just Pooh Bear, Winnie the Pooh Bear”. This theme song wasn’t just a cue that you’d watched too much Saturday Disney and maybe you should turn off the TV, it was also the intro to Disney’s Winnie the Pooh. Now, thanks to Disney and Airbnb you too get to live the life of a round fuzzy sentient stuffed bear.

In celebration of Disney turning 95ththey’ve worked a bit of their corporate synergy magic with Airbnb and created a Winnie the Pooh inspired house in the Hundred Acre Wood in England. Even though when you listen closely you can hear the trees whisper “this was pitched in a boardroom in order to exploit nostalgia” it’s still a damn cute little cottage.

It was designed by Kim Raymond, an artist who has been drawing Winnie the Pooh for 30 years. She said she was inspired by A.A. Milne’s books and E.H. Shepard’s illustrations – what is it with people back then and going by their double initials? Can we bring that back? Is that something we can all start doing again?

The cottage is an accurate representation of Pooh’s home and it gives you a chance to do all the things Pooh would do, like walk around without pants on, or get stuck in a doorway, or hang out with a depressed donkey. You’re also offered yoga mats, journals and throw blankets to encourage visitors “to embrace their natural surroundings and live more like Pooh”, even though it is impossible to imagine Winnie the Pooh journaling let alone doing yoga. If yoga included mostly napping then sure, Pooh would love to do that.

It’s only $130 a night to stay at the cottage and you get a guided tour of the Hundred Acre Wood and get to play a round or two of Poohsticks. Don’t snicker. It’s a game where you drop sticks from Poohsticks Bridge. Why are you giggling? You take your Poohstick and you drop it off the Poohsticks Bridge and race the other Poohsticks. Stop being so immature.

As with all Airbnbs this one comes with a few house rules. You must keep your hands out of the honey pots, and also the listing states “Strictly no heffalumps inside the house”. Get in quick to rent the place because if news of this no heffalump rule gets out they might have a heffalump attorney take them to heffalump court for discrimination.
