Dome Wow House
The house is a work of art, but has inspired other artistic creations!
Flick through our fantastic photos
Designer Debbie Ryan built this house for her mother Heather. It took 2.5 years!
"It's like a transformer," quips Baz.
The Dome House was designed by Melbourne firm McBride Charles Ryan. McBride described it as the "perfect project".
Its sphered form resembles a spaceship that's just landed!
Heather says of her beloved home: "It's not an ostentatious house. It's lovely and it's very me."
The exterior of the house is clad in copper sheet beneath which sits a chaotic stack of cubic boxes.
You can see why Barry likens this building to a half-watermelon with chunks cut out!
This rubbly letter box area almost looks like the inside of the 'watermelon' that has been chopped away from the main buiding.
Just as Heather wanted, the garden weaves and wends its way around the house, giving even more impact to the design.
In 2002, Heather specified she wanted an downstairs living space for herself that could be cosily cut off from the 'family quarters'.
