Ceremonies have been held in the United Kingdom and France to mark 80 years since the Allied victory over Nazi Germany and the end of WWII in Europe. A thanksgiving service was held at Westminster Abbey before the royals joined 10,000 guests, including veterans, for a special concert at Horse Guards Parade, near Buckingham Palace. In a speech to the crowd on the fourth and final day of commemorations, King Charles said the world had a duty to commit to seeking lasting peace and preventing warfare. Meanwhile, in France, French President Emmanuel Macron laid a wreath and re-kindled the flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe before greeting war veterans.
