New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been charged with five counts of criminal offences related to bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy and soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals. An indictment unsealed on Thursday alleges Adams sought and accepted illegal campaign funds and over $100,000 in luxury travel benefits from Turkish businessmen and an official seeking to gain his influence. The mayor has denied any wrongdoing and vowed to stay in the role while his attorneys take care of the case. He is scheduled to have his first court appearance at noon Friday.

Israeli soldiers have fired in the direction of foreign diplomats in the West Bank city of Jenin forcing the delegation to run for cover. Several European countries have condemned the incident, with the French government labelling it "unacceptable" and summoning Israel's ambassador. The IDF has tried to justify the incident stating that the delegation deviated from an approved route and entered an area where they were not authorised to be. No injuries were reported. The IDF launched a major military operation in Jenin this year they say was aimed cracking down on Palestinian militants and terrorists in the West Bank. It has left tens of thousands of people displaced with hundreds of homes destroyed by Israeli forces.

The UK has suspended free trade agreement talks with Israel and levelled sanctions against Israeli settlers on the West Bank, while condemning escalating violence in Gaza. Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued arguably the strongest rebuke against Israel yet from a major global power, asserting "the level of suffering [from] innocent children being bombed again is utterly intolerable." UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy also stated the escalating Israeli-lead violence in the region was damaging Israel's relationship with the UK. Lammy also called it "cleansing," and "extremism" but stopped short of labelling Israel's actions as genocide.

The move comes after a deadly week of strikes across the Strip, which have killed more than 400 people.

Aid Trucks Entering Gaza 'Wholly Inadequate' | 10 News First

The United Nations has said five aid trucks have entered Gaza after Israel succumbed to growing pressure from allies, ending an 11-week blockade on food, medicine, and other supplies. The U.N. humanitarian chief, Tom Fletcher, said the development was welcome but a "drop of the ocean" of what is needed in light of the famine in Gaza, flagged by food security experts last week. Around 600 aid trucks were entering Gaza daily during the month-long ceasefire in March. Another four trucks have been cleared to enter Gaza, but as desperation grows and resources become scare, the U.N. expects aid to be looted. The UK, France, and Canada, in a joint statement, have called the aid "wholly inadequate" and threatened further action and sanctions.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that Russia and Ukraine will ‘immediately’ start ceasefire negotiations to end the three-year-old conflict after lengthy phone calls with both countries. Trump said “very big egos” were involved in the talks, but conceded both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are inclined towards resolution. Zelenskyy has called for the U.S. to impose tougher sanctions on Russia, which Trump has not ruled out. The U.S. leader said Zelenskyy is “not the easiest person to deal with”, and European leaders remain concerned Putin and Trump may force a punitive peace deal on Kyiv.
