New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been charged with five counts of criminal offences related to bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy and soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals. An indictment unsealed on Thursday alleges Adams sought and accepted illegal campaign funds and over $100,000 in luxury travel benefits from Turkish businessmen and an official seeking to gain his influence. The mayor has denied any wrongdoing and vowed to stay in the role while his attorneys take care of the case. He is scheduled to have his first court appearance at noon Friday.
