Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are preparing for direct talks in an effort to end the conflict between the two countries. Zelenskyy said he is ready to meet with Putin in Turkey later this week, provided Russia confirms a complete and lasting ceasefire beforehand. "Starting from tomorrow, we expect a ceasefire, the proposal for this is on the table. A complete and unconditional ceasefire, long enough to provide the necessary foundation for diplomacy, could bring peace much closer," Zelenskyy said. This follows a call by Western powers for a 30-day pause in fighting starting today, after European leaders met in Kyiv over the weekend.

At Least 21 Killed After Bus Skids Off Cliff In Sri Lanka | 10 News First

At least 21 people have been killed and several others injured after a bus carrying dozens of Buddhist pilgrims skidded off a cliff in Sri Lanka. Volunteers helped rescue injured people from the overturned bus, which landed in a tea plantation near the town of Kotmale, about 140 kilometres east of the capital, Colombo. It’s understood the driver was among those injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Police have launched an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that India would “bear the repercussions of its actions” after Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was hit by Indian missiles. In a later address to his nation, Sharif vowed retaliation after the "assault" by India which has reportedly killed 31 people and injured 57 others.
