At least nine Israeli soldiers are currently being questioned by military following allegations a Palestinian prisoner had been raped at the country’s largest detention centre, Sde Teiman. Israeli military has launched a probe into the matter and transferred the bulk of Palestinian detainees from the facility for upgrades after additional reports of ‘abysmal conditions’. When military police officers went to detain the soldiers on Monday, July 29, protesters burst through the gates of an army base to support the soldiers and protest their questioning, according to Israeli media. A British man has been confirmed as the sole survivor of the Air India flight carrying 242 people that crashed into a medical college after take-off on Thursday in the Indian city of Ahmedabad. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, who was in seat 11A of the flight next to his brother, told local media he was returning to the UK after visiting family in India. Family have expressed their devastation speaking to reporters outside the family home in Leicester with another brother, Nayan Kumar Ramesh, saying Ramesh had “no idea” how he escaped. Indian Home Minister Amit Shah visited Vishwash at a hospital in Ahmedabad, as well as others injured on the ground.

Just one lone passenger is said to have miraculously walked away from the wreckage with relatively minor injuries.
