Israel has launched an airstrike on Lebanon’s capital Beirut in what it has said is a targeted attack on a Hezbollah commander. An explosion was felt in the suburb of Dahiyeh, where it is unknown the extent of injuries, with footage revealing extensive damage to a block of apartments. Israel’s Defense Force has claimed the attack has killed Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, however earlier reports from local and international media suggest Shukr has survived. IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari has confirmed the strike was executed in response to a rocket attack in the Israel-occupied Golan Heights over the weekend, which killed 12 children.
