Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant have been issued arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity related to the 13-month war in Gaza. The warrants claim they used "starvation as a method of warfare" by restricting humanitarian aid and deliberately targeting civilians in Israel's campaign against Hamas. Netanyahu rejected the warrant, stating, "Israel will not recognise the validity of this decision." The United States also opposed the decision, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stating, “We fundamentally, fundamentally reject that the ICC has jurisdiction over this situation.”

Country Star Morgan Wallen Sentenced In Chair-Throwing Incident |

Country music star Morgan Wallen has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour counts of reckless endangerment for throwing a chair from a rooftop bar in Nashville on April 7, which almost hit two police officers. Wallen was sentenced to spend seven days in a DUI education centre and be under supervised probation for two years, appearing in court alongside his attorney. Following the proceedings, Wallen’s lawyer Worrick Robinson issued a statement saying that once the artist completes his probation the charges would be eligible for removal from his record.

Boy Killed, Three Injured In West Bank Bus Shooting | 10 News First

A 12-year-old boy has died, and three others wounded after a gunman opened fire on an Israeli bus in the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli military and medics. The shooting happened south of Jerusalem, near Bethlehem at the tunnel checkpoint around 11:30am (local time) on Wednesday. The IDF said in a statement, “Following the initial report, a terrorist opened fire at an Israeli civilian bus in the area of the el-Khader Junction.” “Israeli security forces are pursuing the terrorist, setting up roadblocks and encircling the area of Bethlehem.”

Thousands Remain Evacuated As Malibu Fire Grows | 10 News First

Southern California officials have reported that the wind-driven Franklin wildfire, which has forced thousands of people from their homes in Malibu, has grown significantly. Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said the fire's acreage increased by 39 per cent overnight, with more than 1,500 firefighters continuing to battle the blaze. There are approximately 12,600 people that are under evacuation orders and more than 7,000 residents under current evacuation warnings in the area.

Saudi Arabia Get 2034 WC Despite Human Rights Concerns | 10 News First

Saudi Arabia has been awarded the hosting rights to the 2034 FIFA World Cup by the governing body. It comes despite continued criticism of the nation's human rights record and accusations of 'sportswashing'. The Saudi Minister for Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal spoke following the announcement, welcoming anyone and everyone to come to the tournament. "We welcome everyone to come to the kingdom. My message to everyone is come and see for yourself what we're doing and you'll have a feeling of the transformation that has happened in Saudi Arabia for the past couple of years," said Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal. "And we promise everyone that we will keep on working hard to make Saudi Arabia a better nation for our people and to be open to the world ... it's open to everybody." The Arab nation ran as the sole bidder for the tournament after nations from South East Asia and a joint bid from Australia and New Zealand failed to gain support.

Alleged UnitedHealthcare Shooter Yells Outside Court | 10 News First

Suspected shooter Luigi Mangione intends to fight his extradition from Pennsylvania to New York, where he faces charges for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Legal experts say his attempt to avoid extradition is unlikely to succeed, but could delay his transfer by several weeks. As the 26-year-old suspect entered the courthouse today, he appeared to shout, "Completely unjust and an insult to the American people," although it was unclear what he was referring to. Mangione was arrested at a McDonalds on Monday (December 9) in Pennsylvania after a five-day manhunt. He was spotted by an employee, who thought he resembled the gunman in CCTV released by police.

Franklin Fire Rips Through Malibu | 10 News First

Malibu, northwest of Los Angeles, has been decimated by a wildfire, named 'Franklin Fire', destroying homes and knocking out power in the area. Some residents were forced to evacuate their homes in the beachside community, with the fire growing to nearly 9km2. Malibu resident Fred Roberts likened the fire to a "blowtorch" when the winds come down the Malibu Canyon.

Suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooter In Custody | 10 News First

New York City authorities have announced Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old male, has been arrested on firearms charges in Altoona, Pennsylvania and is believed to be a person of interest in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week in midtown Manhattan. Mangione was spotted in a McDonald's when he was recognised by an employee who called police. Officers discovered a firearm and suppressor on his person that were consistent with the weapon used in the murder, as well as a number of other consistent piece of evidence. Officers also recovered a "handwritten document that speaks to both his motivation and mindset".

Syrian Rebel Commander Addresses Crowds After Victory | 10 News First

Syrian Rebel Commander Abu Mohammed al-Golani addressed cheering crowds in Damascus, as his forces declared victory against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Speaking inside the historic Umayyad Mosque, Golani said the victory was a "turning point for the region", with the nation no longer under rule from a member of the al-Assad family for the first time since 1971 when Hafez al-Assad became the Syrian president. Following his ousting as President, Bashar al-Assad has been granted asylum in Russia.

Syrian rebels are celebrating in the streets of Hama after capturing the city just days after seizing Aleppo. The fall of Hama is a major blow to the regime of Bashar al-Assad, with the city considered a strategic centre. Hama sits between the major cities of Aleppo and Syria's capital, Damascus. Bashar al-Assad's forces have long had the backing of Russia and Iran, with the Chinese embassy advising its citizens to leave Syria "as soon as possible".

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has spoken following the Australian Government passing a new law to ban social media for children under the age of 16. "Social media is doing harm to our children," Albanese said following the vote. "This has been an issue that has raised with me more, or at least as much as any other issue by people ... we know that it's the right thing to do."
