Four Killed After Car Crashes Through Illinois After-School Camp | 10 News First

Four minors have been killed and several others injured after a car smashed through a building hosting an after-school program in Illinois. Police say the vehicle struck multiple people outside the building in Chatham, rammed through the building and then hit several others inside before exiting the other side just after 3:15pm on Monday. The victims at the YNOT After School Camp are believed to range from four-years-old to 18-years-old, police said. It’s understood the driver was unhurt and was taken to hospital for evaluation, with it unclear whether the incident was deliberate.

Power Returns After Mass Blackout In Spain & Portugal | 10 News First

Residents in Madrid, Spain, have been heard cheering on Monday as power slowly started returning to the country, after a huge outage brought parts of Spain and Portugal to a standstill. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said the grid operator had restored electricity supplies to about half of Spain, but authorities are yet to determine the cause and are "not ruling out any hypothesis". Outages on such a scale are extremely rare in Europe, with this one grounding planes, halting public transport, and forcing some hospitals to suspend routine operations. The total blackout lasted approximately 9 hours, beginning at around 10:33 GMT, with power partially returning at around 19:46 GMT.

One Dead and Several Injured After Florida Boat Crashes Into Ferry | 10 News First

One person has died, and several others have been injured after a boat crashed into a ferry in Florida on Sunday night. The Clearwater Ferry, which had more than 40 people aboard, was struck by another boat that then left the scene around 8:45pm. A mass casualty incident was declared by the fire department and helicopters were called in to transport the most seriously injured to local hospitals. The crash will be investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, with assistance from the Coast Guard.

Francis’ coffin was placed in a simple marble tomb inscribed with his name in Latin, "Franciscus", in a side aisle of the basilica after his funeral Mass in St. Peter’s Square on Saturday. The cardinals walked through the Holy Door, which was opened at the start of the year to mark the start of the Jubilee Year 2025 and took turns to pray at the pope’s tomb. Following Francis’ funeral ceremonies, the focus is set to switch to the secretive conclave that’s on the horizon, to elect who might succeed the late pope.

Police Confirm At Least 11 Dead In Vancouver Attack | 10 News First

Police in Vancouver have confirmed at least 11 people have died after a car was rammed into crowds at a Lapu Lapu festival. Authorities also confirmed a man who was arrested following the incident was known to police, and has an extensive history of mental health issues. The identities of the victims have yet to be released.
