House Democrats are demanding Trump’s national security officials take accountability for a security breach, which saw plans for upcoming military strikes in Yemen shared in a group chat including a journalist from a major American magazine. While officials – including the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the CIA – are insisting that only declassified information was discussed in the group chat, Senators on the Intelligence Committee have said they “fail to understand” how attack sequences and timing wasn’t classified. U.S. President Donald Trump has said his national security adviser is “doing his best” and an apology isn’t necessary – instead taking aim at the journalist in the chat and calling him a “sleazebag”.

US President Donald Trump has told reporters he knows “nothing” about The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief being accidentally added to a Signal group chat used by top national security officials to discuss upcoming military strikes on Yemen. The group appeared to include several high-ranking government officials, including US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President J.D. Vance. According to editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, the messages contained “operational details of forthcoming strikes on Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing.” Signal, an open-source encrypted messaging service, is not approved by the US government for sharing classified information, and its use could constitute a violation of the Espionage Act. The leak comes just days after the Defence Secretary’s office announced a crackdown on sensitive information breaches.

'Spare Medics': UN After Israel Strikes Gaza Hospital | 10 News First

The United Nations has urged Israel to spare medical facilities from strikes, after Israel’s military struck the largest hospital in southern Gaza on Sunday night. The strike hit the surgical building of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, filled with dead and wounded after a wave of airstrikes in the region. United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric also expressed alarm over paramedics on rescue missions in Rafah losing contact on Sunday. It comes as the UN scales down operations in Gaza, following an Israeli tank strike on one of the UN’s compounds. More than 65 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed in 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry on Monday. The total death toll in Gaza from the 17-month war has now exceeded 50,000 people.

School Hit in Russian Missile Attack in Sumy, Ukraine | 10 News First

A school and adjacent residential block in Ukraine's northeast was hit by a Russian missile attack on Monday (March 24) injuring almost 90 people, including 17 children. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a rescue operation was continuing in the city of Sumy, as US and Russian officials discussed a narrow proposal for a ceasefire at sea. There's hopes the ceasefire at sea could lead to wider peace talks. Sumy is around 30km from the Russian border, and has been subject to frequent drone and missile strikes by Russia.

Tens of thousands of people have gathered for a fifth night outside the Istanbul municipality building, as protests against the jailing of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu continue. The mayor and main rival to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been formally arrested and charged with corruption ahead of being selected as the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 2028 presidential nominee in a vote on Sunday. Leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party Ozgur Ozel addressed the crowd, calling on them to boycott pro-government companies.
